Scotty Smalls (called Smalls by the Sandlot Boys) is the narrator of the story. He is a shy boy who at the time of the film, only recently moved to San Fernando. He is initially socially aloof and terrible at baseball, but thanks to Benny's help, he was able to recover some of his lost aura.

As an adult, he works as an MLB announcer, working closely with his friend, who is now on the Dodgers, Benny.
