| Mr Mertle is the owner of the Beast and lives close to the Sandlot. He was a close friend of Babe Ruth's and even played baseball with him, but he was blinded by a ball, forcing him to retire. He is still very passionate about baseball and owns tons of high-value memorabilia, but he has little use for it, so he uses it to take the opportunity to talk to the Sandlot Boys about baseball. |
