This key is very much one of the past. Historic jazz publications, namely those by Glenn Miller, frequently made use of this key, giving it a more dated sound. It is occasionally, though rarely, used in chorales. John Phillips Sousa made good use of this key in his marches, particularly in their "trio" sections. |
