Honolulu has a wide variety of neighborhoods, ranging from its urban core to the rural peripheries. Some of the most popular neigborhoods include:         

 Waikiki: One of the most touristy areas, Waikiki is situated along a pristine white-sand beach. Most resorts are in this neighborhood.  

 Chinatown: One of the oldest Chinatowns of the US, this neighborhood is both quaint and well-connected. Despite having a very dark history, the area has recently received a lot of revitalization.       

Ala Moana: This neighborhood, close to Waikiki, has a very strong tourist presence and is home to the world's largest open-air shopping mall.  

Downtown: Downtown Honolulu is a very modern area, situated just to the East of Chinatown. It is also home to many historic sites, including Aliʻiōlani Hale.   

 

Chinatown, once a spot that was avoided by tourists, has recently become a tourist town of its own right
