ELECTRICAL FAULT ON ROSEPORT’S RAILWAYS TRAP GUY FAWKES DAY TOURISTS

Conford Times - November 6th, 2025

ROSEPORT: While most Wakkies were celebrating Guy Fawkes Day above ground, there were some down below who weren’t so fortunate.

In the RWAC, Guy Fawkes day celebrations look a bit different to the ones on the Isle of Wight or the UK. Along with the burning of effigies and “pennies for the guy,” Wakkies also add on another layer to the celebration: music. The piece of choice is the 5th movement of Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, “Dream of a Witches Sabbath.” The piece’s bell part is played on the huge bell tower on St. Catherine’s Cathedral, with bands all across the city of Roseport using the enormous sound instead of a percussionist. The song starts at 8:00 PM local time (7:00 in Roblandian time), and this is where yesterday’s story begins.

The public was alerted of the incident by the emergency bell on St. Catherine's Cathedral (which cut off the performance of Symphonie Fantastique) and an alert on their TVs, but knowing what happened simply wouldn’t cut it. Services to all Northern parts of the STS were little-to-none, and services in South Roseport weren’t much better. The Roseport STS had to call upon a fleet of about 150 buses they had acquired. In fact, some Routemasters were even seen. Most people had found their way home by 11:00, and bus service went through the night. The Roseport STS currently has extremely poor service. Here is the most recent update provided by the STS:

Canton line: Suspended between Grand Plaza and Dagon Mainline until November 7th at 8:00 AM. Dagon Central is indefinitely closed.

Clandon line: Suspended between Edgewater and Aldersgate until November 7th at 8:00 AM.

Crescent line: Suspended indefinitely North of Trumpton. Expect delays on the rest of the line.

Cumberland line: Suspended indefinitely.

Dagon line: Suspended indefinitely.

Dalcombe line: Suspended indefinitely North of Franckerton Crossing.

Denton line: Suspended indefinitely North of Franckerton Crossing.

The rest of the lines have good service, but do expect them to be much more full than usual. For mainline service, Great Terradome and Dagon Mainline are both using a special schedule. Please check STS.gov.rb for more information
