2028 Summer Olympic Triathlon

Three Disciplines, One Goal

The triathlon is one of the ultimate tests of endurance at the Olympic Games. In 2028, Los Angeles will host athletes who must conquer swimming, cycling, and running in a single race — pushing their bodies and minds to the limit in pursuit of Olympic glory.

The Venue

The triathlon will unfold across Santa Monica and the Pacific Coast, with athletes swimming in open water, cycling along scenic coastal roads, and running through vibrant city streets. The course will showcase California’s natural beauty while challenging competitors with diverse terrain.

Events & Format

  • Men’s Individual Triathlon: 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle, 10 km run.

  • Women’s Individual Triathlon: 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle, 10 km run.

  • Mixed Team Relay: Teams of four (two men, two women), each completing a short-format triathlon before tagging the next teammate.

Every event demands endurance, strategy, and the ability to transition seamlessly between disciplines.

Expect powerhouse nations like Great Britain, France, and the United States to battle for supremacy, alongside rising stars from across the globe. Triathlon often produces dramatic finishes, with races decided by seconds after hours of competition.
