Skateboarding at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles

Overview

Skateboarding will continue its role as one of the newest and most exciting sports at the Summer Olympics. First introduced in Tokyo 2020, it brings youthful energy, creativity, and urban culture to the Games. At Los Angeles 2028, skateboarding will showcase the artistry and athleticism of riders from around the world.

Venue

The skateboarding competitions are expected to be held at purpose-built parks and street courses in Los Angeles, designed to reflect authentic skate culture while meeting Olympic standards. The venue will provide challenging features for athletes and an engaging atmosphere for spectators.

Events

Olympic skateboarding features two main disciplines:

  • Street: Athletes perform tricks on stairs, rails, ledges, and other urban-style obstacles.

  • Park: Riders showcase aerial tricks and flow in a bowl-like course with ramps and curves.

Both men’s and women’s competitions are contested, with athletes judged on difficulty, execution, creativity, and overall flow.

Competition Format

Skaters compete in preliminary rounds leading to finals, where the best runs or trick combinations determine medalists. Each athlete has multiple attempts, encouraging risk-taking and innovation while rewarding consistency and style.
