The rules of World Flag Trivia are designed to balance rapid-fire visual recognition with strategic accuracy. Whether you are identifying a fluttering flag or a jagged coastline, the following guidelines govern every match:
General Gameplay Rules
- The Objective: Correctly identify the country associated with the displayed flag or map shape within the allotted time to earn points and progress through levels.
- Response Format: Depending on the game mode, players must either select the correct name from a multiple-choice list of four options or type the name directly for a higher difficulty bonus.
- Time Limit: Each question is governed by a 20-second timer. If the timer reaches zero before a selection is made, the round is counted as incorrect.
- Life System: Players begin each session with three hearts (lives). A life is lost for every incorrect guess or timed-out question. The game ends immediately once all lives are depleted.
Scoring & Multipliers
- Base Points: Standard correct answers award fixed points based on the difficulty tier (Easy, Medium, Hard, or Impossible).
- Speed Bonus: Points are scaled based on the remaining time. Answering within the first 5 seconds provides a 3x multiplier, while answering in the final 5 seconds yields only base points.
- Streak Multipliers: Consecutive correct answers build a "Combo Meter," increasing the point value of subsequent questions until a mistake is made.
Lifelines & Support
Players can use earned in-game currency to activate "Aces up their sleeve" during difficult rounds:
- 50:50: Removes two incorrect options from a multiple-choice question.
- Second Chance: Allows for one incorrect guess without losing a heart.
- Compass Reveal: For map shapes only, this reveals the continent where the country is located.
