  • 1970s: Quartz watches became popular, and the TAG Heuer Monaco chronograph became a global sensation after appearing in the movie Le Mans. 
  • 1980s: Luxury watches became popular, with brands like Piaget and Raymond Weil introducing new models. The Seiko Kinetic watch was also introduced, the first quartz watch with a hand-winding system. 
  • 1990s: Mechanical watches became popular again. 
  • 2000s: The Hublot Big Bang was a successful design. 
  • 2010s: Skeletonized dials became popular, with dials sometimes being eliminated altogether.
