Ceramics & PhotographyI like the fact that with ceramics, you can be as creative as you'd like as long as you're neat with it and have your idea planned out properly. I love experimenting with different ideas and glazes. You're allowed to mix glaze colors if necessary, which I've especially been doing lately with the zentangle bowl assignment. This can make for complementary different colors with similar tones and hues. Even for the turtle rattle, you could be as creative as you'd like. For instance, I made a cat with a shell [rather than a turtle] and added ear and tail attachments, basing it off of a character and giving it sharp shapes. In photography, you can be creative as long as you follow the rules that matter most: lighting, composition [if required] and experimenting with different photo editing and different angles. CommunicationsI like that there is not a lot of homework, mainly just preparing for your speech and you mainly write for it in class since class time is three hours. He also gives breaks to the students when they seem to be exhausted and the breaks are from fifteen to thirty minutes long. You can go outside to one of the benches, or really anywhere on campus. I would often read and eat a snack during this time and it made me more at ease. The speeches can be persuasive towards the end, but initially are rhetorical [use logos, pathos, etc.] You can present many speeches on subjects you're passionate about. For instance, for one of my informative speeches, I presented on how dogs react to humans and their emotional behavior. I also presented on the game Detroit: Become Human for my persuasive speech, but many elements of this speech were informative to support my persuasion. The professor is also kind to the students and helps them to come up with more ideas if they're unsure, and he also relates to the students a lot and goes off on tangents [mainly about Red Dead Redemption 2, which I purchased because he kept recommending it.] This causes the students to feel welcome in the environment and more at ease with making presentation, with less stress of homework. Usually, all homework is easily finished in class, given the class duration being three hours. I initially disliked the three hour duration, but became happier with it since it's a comfortable environment and I enjoyed taking the long break to read and eat a snack to regain energy. |
