A selection of milkshakes topped with whipped cream |
A milkshake is a more liquid variation of ice cream that is drank rather than eaten. They are often served in cups, similar to a smoothie.
Milkshakes are madewhen one adds more milk to ice cream and then blends the two, creating a drink with a smoother consistency.
Their invention came much later than that of ice cream, with them first being made in the 1880s. Back then they contained alcohol!
Nowadays, milkshakes are popular to order alongside diner food, like burgers and fries. They are very common in fast-food restaurants, like Wendy's and In-n-Out. |
