Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is a 2015-2017 anime series set 300 years after a great war, following child soldiers on Mars who fight for independence, piloting an ancient Gundam called Barbatos. Directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai and written by Mari Okada, the series is known for its gritty, realistic take on war, focusing on the consequences of violence and the struggles of its young protagonists, Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka, as they form a mercenary group called Tekkadan. It aired in two seasons in Japan and received an English dub on Adult Swim's Toonami block.
