History of Cheyenne

History of Cheyenne

Cheyenne was founded in 1867 during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. What began as a railroad town quickly grew into a major center for trade and government.

Cheyenne played a key role in Wyoming becoming a state in 1890. Wyoming was the first state to grant women the right to vote, and Cheyenne was at the center of this historic movement.
