Welcome to the Web Development Class at West Ranch High School!

In our Web Development class, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by creating their own websites and web pages. This course is project-driven, allowing you to apply the skills you learn to real-world projects where you'll design, build, and refine websites from the ground up.

Course Projects:

Throughout the semester, students will work on several key projects that challenge their ability to design and develop functional websites. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll create:

  • Personal Portfolio Website: Design your own portfolio to showcase your skills and interests. This project allows you to display your work and creativity while practicing your coding and design abilities.

  • Multi-Page Website: Build a website with multiple pages, learning how to create navigation links, manage content, and implement consistent design elements across each page.

  • Interactive Web Features: Enhance your websites by adding interactive features like forms, buttons, and dynamic content. You'll learn how to modify code to create engaging, user-friendly experiences.

  • Website Redesign Project: Take an existing website and improve its layout, functionality, and user experience. This project helps you apply web design principles while gaining an understanding of user-centered design.

Each project will require you to modify and refine your code, allowing you to experiment and iterate to improve the overall functionality and design of your websites. By the end of the class, you’ll have a portfolio of projects that demonstrate your skills in web development.

Hands-On Learning:

The focus of the course is on creating and modifying websites. You’ll be involved in every step of the development process, from planning the layout to tweaking the code for responsive design. This practical experience will build your confidence and competence in web development, setting you up for success in future technology courses or career paths.
