Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist in New Bern, North Carolina, created Pepsi in 1893 and originally called it "Brad's Drink". In 1898, it was renamed Pepsi-Cola due to its supposed digestive benefits, and in 1961, it was shortened to Pepsi.
