What You Need Daily For This Class
Grading There will almost always be one assessment a week, usually on Fridays. The assessments are as follows: Tests/Quizzes 90% Tests are worth 2 quiz grades. Sometimes there will be take-home assignments that will be graded. These will count as small quiz grades. Participation 10% Students complete a daily “do now” problem which are collected at the end of the week. Students need to copy the problem, complete, and fix any errors they make. These collectively make up the participation grade. HOMEWORK POLICY Homework will be assigned every night and usually consists of problems from the textbook and occasionally a worksheet. Students can find the homework assignment written on the board daily when they come to class, and assignments are also posted for the week on Ms. Watson’s website. Completion of assignments will be checked daily. The Voorhees Math Department Homework Policy goes as follows: Students may miss 2 assignments a marking period. Each additional miss will result in 1% deducted from the marking period average. If a student does not miss any homework then their marking period average will be raised 2% Example: Joe has an 85% (B) marking period average. He has missed 10 homework assignments. His average gets dropped 8 points, resulting in a 77% (C) average. Example: George has an 88% (B+) marking period average. He has never missed a single assignment. His average gets raised 2 points, resulting in a 90% (A -) average. Half completed assignments count as half a homework missed! ABSENT STUDENTS As per School Policy students will have 2 days to make up work for every 1 day missed from class. Students are to see Ms. Watson before or after class to make arrangements to make up work. If a student is absent the day before a test or quiz: If this is the only day they have missed then the student is expected to still take the test or quiz if they are present on that day. This is because no material taught the day before an assessment is ever included. If extreme circumstances are involved then please speak with Ms. Watson before class to work out different arrangements. TARDINESS As per School Policy 3 lates become an unexcused absence. Consistent lates will result in loss of credit for the course. CHEATING Students caught cheating will receive a zero for the assessment and after school detention. |
