"Life is like a trumpet - if you don't put anything into it, you don't get anything out of it." - William C. Handy
The trumpet is arguably the most iconic brass instrument, and even instrument in general. The trumpet's history dates back to Ancient Egypt, with an instrument called the serpent, which was more akin to a tuba than the modern day trumpet, though over time, the two have become distinct and have created many other brass instruments, like the trombone and euphonium. As are most brass instruments (including trombone and euphoniums), the trumpet is pitched in B-flat (Bb), meaning that playing a C on the trumpet will sound a concert Bb. Learning the trumpet is truly a journey, and I have been on it. I'd say it's worth it, though I may be a bit biased.
