The show balances two main elements: high-concept interdimensional sci-fi adventures and mundane family life. Rick lives with his daughter Beth's family. He constantly drags Morty—and occasionally Morty's older sister Summer or parents Jerry and Beth—through portals into alternate dimensions, alien planets, and surreal parallel realities.

Themes and Style

Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland for Adult Swim , the series mixes dark, absurdist humor with deep philosophical questions about nihilism, existential dread, and family dysfunction. While many episodes are self-contained adventures, the show also serializes complex ongoing storylines involving the multiverse and character growth.
