"Record of Ragnarok" is a manga series that features a tournament between gods and historical figures, where humanity's fate hangs in the balance.

"Record of Ragnarok" (Japanese: 終末のワルキューレ, Shūmatsu no Warukyūre) is a Japanese manga series written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui, illustrated by Azychika. The story revolves around a grand tournament held every millennium by the gods to decide the fate of humanity. After a council of gods unanimously decides to exterminate humanity due to its irredeemable history, the valkyrie Brunhilde intervenes, proposing a last chance for mankind to prove its worth through a series of one-on-one battles against the gods. 

The tournament, known as Ragnarök, consists of  thirteen matches where  thirteen human champions, known as the Einherjar, face off against  thirteen gods from various mythologies. If humanity can win  seven out of the thirteen matches, they will be spared from extinction. Each human is paired with a valkyrie who transforms into a powerful weapon tailored to their fighting style, but at the risk of her own life if the human is defeated. 

The series explores themes of survival, redemption, and the clash of ideologies between gods and humans. It features a diverse cast of characters, including legendary figures from history and mythology, each bringing unique abilities and backstories to the tournament. The narrative is rich with action, drama, and philosophical questions about humanity's worth and potential. 

"Record of Ragnarok" has been adapted into an anime series, with the first season premiering on Netflix in June 2021, followed by a second season in January 2023. A third season is set to premiere in December 2025.
