Jordans first originated from Nike in a 1984 deal with NBA legend Michael Jordan launching the first ever Air Jordan1 in 1984. These shoes were banned by the NBA as a violation to it's rules. Nike paid the $5,000 fine for each game Jordan wore them and launched the "Banned" ad campaign, creating a rebellious and desirable image for the brand. The shoe became an instant cultural phenomenon, selling $126 million in its first year against an initial projection of $3 million. Even after the GOAT's retirement, Jordans still have a wide population for people of all ages.
