Scotty “Smalls”

In The Sandlot, Scotty Smalls is the new kid who moves into town and struggles to fit in. At first, he doesn’t understand baseball at all, which makes him feel left out. Hamilton “Ham” Porter

Hamilton “Ham” Porter is the team’s catcher and one of the funniest members of the group. He’s loud, confident, and always ready with a joke or a clever insult. Ham brings a lot of energy to the team, especially during games when he talks nonstop to distract opponents. Even though he jokes around, he’s also a dependable player and a great friend. His personality adds humor and excitement to the sandlot.


Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez

Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez is the leader and best player on the team. He’s incredibly fast, talented, and respected by everyone in the group. Benny is the one who gives Smalls a chance and helps him improve, showing his kindness and leadership. He’s brave and always steps up when the team needs him, especially when facing the Beast. Benny represents confidence, skill, and true leadership.


Michael “Squints” Palledorous

Squints is one of the smartest and most determined kids on the sandlot. He’s best known for his huge crush on Wendy Peffercorn and his unforgettable plan to get her attention. Squints is bold and not afraid to take risks, even if they’re a little crazy. Despite his small size, he has a big personality and plays an important role in the group’s adventures.


Kenny “The Heater” DeNunez

Kenny DeNunez, also known as “The Heater,” is the team’s pitcher. He earns his nickname because of his powerful and fast throws. Kenny takes baseball seriously and always tries to do his best on the field. His focus and determination help the team during important games. He may not be the loudest, but his skills make him a key part of the sandlot crew.


Alan “Yeah-Yeah” McClennan

Yeah-Yeah gets his nickname because he often repeats things or agrees with what others say. He’s full of energy and always involved in whatever the group is doing. While he might not stand out as much as some of the others, he adds personality and fun to the team. His presence helps show how close and connected the group is.


Tommy “Repeat” Timmons

Tommy “Repeat” Timmons is one of the younger members of the sandlot. Like his nickname suggests, he often repeats what others say, which adds humor to the group. Even though he’s younger, he still looks up to the older boys and wants to be part of everything they do. He represents the younger side of the team and helps show how the group includes everyone.


Mr. Mertle

Mr. Mertle is the mysterious man who lives behind the fence where the Beast is kept. The boys are afraid of him at first because of rumors and stories they’ve heard. However, they later discover that he’s actually kind, wise, and understanding. He shares important advice and helps them see that things aren’t always what they seem. His character teaches a lesson about not judging others too quickly.


The Beast (Hercules)

The Beast, whose real name is Hercules, is the large dog that guards the junkyard. The boys believe he’s a dangerous monster and are terrified of him. Throughout the movie, he becomes a symbol of their fears. In the end, they learn that Hercules is actually friendly and harmless. His character shows how fear can come from misunderstanding.


Wendy Peffercorn

Wendy Peffercorn is the lifeguard at the community pool and one of the most memorable characters. She’s kind, confident, and admired by all the boys, especially Squints. Her scene at the pool becomes one of the most famous moments in the movie. Wendy represents the boys’ childhood crushes and adds a fun, lighthearted element to the story.
