AboutThe first LPS series was made in 1995, around five years before the first figures were sold. It ran for about a year and had forty episodes. The first figures were small models representing real animals with a less stylized and more realistic look. The eyes were small like an actual animal and there were mainly dogs and cats. 2005 is when LPS decided to change the appearance of their figures, giving it a more stylized look with a chihuahua with large eyes and ears and a small body. In 2007, a game was released, LPSO or Littlest Pet Shop Online. You would be able to enter codes on an LPS plush that you'd bought to earn more pets on the website. In 2008, Littlest pet shop released a new LPS video game available in stores for Wii, Windows and Nintendo DS. This video game stayed around longer than LPSO. Blythe was re-released in 2010 with a new theme of Blythe Loves LPS. Eventually, there was a show released including Blythe, and she was a stylist who could talk to pets in the pet shop that she worked in. When a huge change was made to LPS when Generation three was released in 2012, it received backlash for the skinny legs, odd and flat-looking eyes, as well as the missing magnets and holes in one foot. The fourth generation is considered decent by some, however many aren't as pleased as they were with older LPS from around 2005 to 2012. Although the fourth generation kept the stylization and proportions, it looked odd and different from the version everyone praised. |
